DESCRIPTION:\nThe NAACP\, Okaloosa County Branch\, will hold a public works
 hop on a proposal to convert four “at-large” city council seats to dis
 trict-based seats.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nThe Branch all invites Fort Walton Bea
 ch residents to attend the public workshop to review a proposed Representa
 tive Governance Model that would combine four district-based city council 
 seats and three at-large council seats\, plus an at-large mayor\, while ma
 intaining a professional council–manager structure.\n \nCurrently\, all
  seven city council seats and the mayor are elected “at large\,” meani
 ng they don’t represent a specific location or neighborhood within the c
 ity. The proposal is intended to strengthen neighborhood representation\,
  promote equitable access to civic leadership\, and preserve citywide acco
 untability.\n\nThe workshop will include a formal presentation of the prop
 osal\, followed by an opportunity for public comment and discussion. The w
 orkshop will be held at 5:30 p.m. on March 9\, 2026\, at the Fort Walton B
 each City Hall Annex/Growth Management Offices\, located at 105 Miracle St
 rip Parkway SE in the City Hall complex.\n\nAll FWB residents are encourag
 ed to attend and participate.\n\n\n\n\n
