NAACP and County Officials to Conduct Jail Observation Visit

Crestview, FL — August 25, 2025 — A delegation of officials from the Okaloosa County Branch of the NAACP, joined by Chairman Paul Mixon of the Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners, will visit the Okaloosa County Jail on Tuesday, August 26, to conduct an impartial, first-hand observation of the facility’s condition.

This collaborative visit aims to assess the jail’s living conditions, safety protocols, and overall environment in response to recent concerns raised by inmates and community members. The delegation will tour the facility, engage with staff, and gather information to better understand current operations and identify areas for potential improvement.

“The NAACP is committed to transparency and accountability in our justice system,” said Sabu Williams, President of the Okaloosa County Branch, NAACP. “This visit represents a constructive partnership with county leadership to ensure that all individuals in custody are treated with dignity and fairness.”

Following the visit, the NAACP will prepare a summary report to share with county officials and the public, outlining key observations and recommendations.
